26.07.2005: Dear Folds-fans!

Our Thank-you-e-mail for Ben has been sent to his manager, Alan Wolmark, who promised to forward it to the man. Friendly Mr. Wolmark also wrote: "I heard that the two German shows were absolutely incredible." So. Damn. Right.

The Berlin concert will be broadcasted on Radio Eins, August 17th, 23:00 CET as a part of the program "Sommernachtskonzerte" ‚Äì you can listen online to Radio Eins here!

Check out the website of our BFS-holland-correspondent Peter Kortleve's very good Ben-Folds-cover-band "Ben Folds Revive" and read everything about their meeting with the man ‚Äì they even played together...

Another good news: BFS expands! Welcome to our new BFS-correspondents Andy Lederer (Austria) and Axel Palmqvist (Sweden).

was f?ºr ein Wochenende! The Man in Berlin, K??ln und Bestform. Und weil der Herr Folds sich so nett daf?ºr bedankt hat, dass wir ihm mit unserer Petition gezeigt haben, wie viele Fans er hier hat und er auch tats?§chlich einzig und allein aus diesem Grund f?ºr zwei Konzerte nach Deutschland gekommen ist (wie er mir pers??nlich best?§tigte!), wollen auch wir jetzt noch einmal DANKE SAGEN.

Und zwar so: Bis MONTAG, d. 20.06.2005, 12 Uhr, k??nnt Ihr Eure Dankesworte an contact@benfoldssociety.com schicken. Betreff: You To Thank. Bitte gebt au?üerdem noch Euren Namen, m??glicherweise Euren Wohnort (kein Muss), aber vor allem an, wo Ihr Ben am vergangenen Wochenende live gesehen habt.

Ihr k??nnt z.B. schreiben, wie weit Ihr extra f?ºr Ben Folds gereist seid, warum Ihr Euch besonders ?ºber einen bestimmten Song gefreut habt und nat?ºrlich und vor allem, wie gro?üartig Ihr das Konzert fandet und dass er bald wiederkommen muss (klar!). Alles ist willkommen - Hauptsache, Ihr k??nnt es in ein paar S?§tzen ausdr?ºcken.
Wer ein Foto (und bitte wirklich nur EINS!) beif?ºgen m??chte (von Euch und Ben z.B., falls Ihr ihn getroffen habt, oder auch ein besonders gutes Konzertfoto), kann das gerne tun, allerdings sollte das nicht gr???üer als 50KB sein. Es kann auch sein, dass wir nicht alle eingesandten Fotos integrieren k??nnen, wenn es zu viele sind.

Zudem sammeln wir die sch??nsten S?§tze aus Konzertberichten ?ºber seine Shows in Berlin und K??ln. Diese sch??nsten S?§tze werden wir ebenfalls Ben zukommen lassen. Wenn Ihr irgendwo was gelesen habt - her damit!

Ihr k??nnt sichergehen, dass Euer Beitrag 100%ig bei Ben pers??nlich ankommt, wir werden die E-Mail an seinen Manager schicken, der sehr nett ist und das auch auf jeden Fall weiterleitet.

An dieser Stelle noch einmal ein riesiges DANKESCH?ñN f?ºr die reichhaltige Beteiligung an der Petition, IHR habt Ben nach Deutschland geholt! Unsere Aktion ist damit allerdings nicht abgeschlossen ‚Äì wir erhalten die Petition weiterhin aufrecht.

it's been a while since the last news-entry and there's only a few days to count down until the man finally hits the road again in Europe! Are your voices already in shape for the trumpet- and horn-parts of "Army"? They surely are. As well as I bet everyone of you has already built an altar for "Songs For Silverman". For the rare case of this brilliant album not rotating in the CD-Player.

"Songs For Silverman" has entered the German charts on position 84 (read a detailed review ‚Äì in German ‚Äì here), which is actually Ben's Top 100-premiere in Germany! You know of any other European chart entries? Let our guestbook know. For those three people who do not own "Songs For Silverman" yet: You can listen to oneandahalf-minute-snippets of every song on the website of German MTV ‚Äì just click here!

Ben Folds Society is very happy about the fact that all well-known German music mags (including "Rolling Stone", "Musikexpress" and "Visions") are featuring big articles about and interviews with our dear Ben Folds in their current issues. But a special thanks goes out to "Visions" who have even mentioned our tiny Society.

Tickets for the Berlin concert ‚Äì Saturday, JUNE, 4th, 2005 - are still available because of the gig being moved to a larger venue, the Columbiahalle. And don't miss Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide opening the show! He's a friend of Ben and a very, very good songwriter. Check out his latest band album, "End Of Love" - it's fantastic. 15.11.2004: Sony Music Germany have put Ben's lovely e-mail to his German fans on their website, popular German music mag Spex as well. Yeah!

Ben Folds Society has sent best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ben in the name of all German fans. And the man has answered with a personal note!

mein deutsch ist nicht so gut... sorry. uhh... ich habe ein atomkraftwerk in mein zimmer? what does this mean? why do i remember that from german class? what is scheisse im simmel? will someone teach me to spell?

the real reason i could not perform in germany this time was because i haven't learned to speak german fluently yet. and that also explains why i couldn't play the UK. my english is also shit.

i'm feeling somewhat better now. thanks for the kind letter. i can't believe it's been five years since i played germany. i'm going to take it easy for the next couple of weeks and completely recover and after this i will stop sleeping under a tree in my underwear in the snow. thank you for keeping my little career alive in germany. i had no idea that any more than 40 people still knew my music there. i'll see you in june.

12.11.2004: More tickets available for the Berlin-concert!
Due to massive request the location for the sold out Berlin-concert on June 4th, 2005 has been changed from Passionskirche to Columbiahalle. This means that now there will be more tickets available! The tickets for the postponed November-dates stay valid for the concerts in June.

10.11.2004: ***BEN FOLDS EUROPEAN TOUR POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS!***

Dear Folds-Fans,

most of you have surely already heard of our dear Mr.Folds being hospitalized last week due to a respiratory infection. Now, poor Ben even has to postpone his European tour till May/June 2005 (Ben Folds Society just got an e-mail from the German promoter saying so, there'll be an official statement on www.benfolds.com soon). But it's well-known, that rescheduled concerts are his best, so we can really look forward to the return of Ben next year.

Please remember that it's important to sign the petition even if you already have your ticket ‚Äì anyone in Europe who is generally interested in seeing Ben live should be on our list in order to make visible how many fans would appreciate Ben and his piano to visit Europe more often!
Now it's more important than ever ‚Äì the new album will be out early 2005 and all of us can imagine what might follow...a tour! It's up to us to show Ben and his people that Europe needs him and his concerts!

Thanks to our Dutch BFS-correspondent Peter, big radio station 3FM played "Still Fighting It" and mentioned our petition, including Peter saying via telephone how fantastic Ben is and that he has to tour Europe again! Wow.
The 1-hour-Ben-special on big German radio station HR3 was fantastic. Thanks again to Volker Rebell! He even played "Hiro‚Äôs Song". Again: Wow.
